Camping In Maine
Sketches from a journal of a camping trip, drawn & written after the fact. 1. We arrive, parking the car in the trees. 2. My friend’s daughter slept through the whole car ride the prior night, so woke much earlier than we were ready to. Eventually we left the tent and ate breakfast at the picnic table. 3. I squatted by the dwindling fire and failed to adequately cook a Native American recipe, the little girl filmed the proceedings & played newscaster with her camera, and the the rain got worse and we erected protection over the table. 4. The rain became a downpour, and we eventually decided to pack it in; I donned a clear plastic emergency poncho and helped ferry everything back to the car. It was a delightful trip, which is why I felt compelled to document it afterward (though more in words than pictures).
